The Atlanta hail storm season is once again upon us and highlighted with an exclamation point! The Greater Atlanta area was recently rocked by tornadoes, hail and straight-line wind gusts of up to 100 mph. Hail season in Atlanta begins in March and runs through June. However, this does not mean that severe weather cannot occur outside of this window, only that this is the greatest concentration. The best advice is to hope for the best and plan for the worst. Be sure you and your family have a plan should severe weather become a threat. Often, simply being prepared can reduce the risk of harm.
The average Atlanta hail storm only lasts for about five minutes, but during that time your home can sustain a brutal pelting. Once the storm passes, call Sparrow Exteriors and we will perform a FREE, No-Obligation inspection of your property. If we discover damages, we will document them and prepare the information your insurer will want should you decide to file a claim.
Atlanta Hail Facts:
- Hail can damage roofing systems such as asphalt shingles, clay and concrete tiles, cedar shake, standing seam and other metal roofing, and even slate roofing systems.
- Hail can crack, puncture and shred siding whether it is vinyl, wood or fiber cement.
- Hail often chips away at your home’s paint, ruining its appearance and has even been known to damage stucco, chip bricks and crack stone details.
- Your gutters can also be severely damaged by hail as the gutter system and toppers are dented affecting their appearance and function.
While homeowner’s first thoughts are of their safety, their second concern is their vehicles. When hail storms approach Atlanta our initial instinct is to pull the car into the garage. But seldom do we consider the damage the storm is doing to our home. As it protects us from the elements, our home is exposed and vulnerable.
- Hail Damage is not typically visible from the ground
- This Damage reduces the life of your roof, painting, siding, gutters, etc.
- Storm Damage is only covered by your insurer for a limited time
- Storm Damage may cause unseen slow leaks that are only discovered through an inspection, or when the damage reaches severe levels.
